We are Richmond’s only nurse practitioner-owned and operated nutritional psychiatry practice focused on whole body treatment and health management.
We work with women and men of all ages (including children and adolescents) who suffer from a variety of mental health issues including but not limited to:
Attention deficit disorder (ADD)
Post-traumatic stress disorder
Our combined training and expertise in psychiatry, nutrition, and functional medicine makes us uniquely qualified to offer our patients a highly integrative whole body approach to mental health services.
What’s Different About RIPNS
We believe that identifying and treating the root cause of a patient’s mental health symptoms, rather than medicating the symptoms, leads to better and more lasting health.
We are strongly committed to working with our patients in a supportive and collaborative capacity to help them feel better and achieve their individual health and wellness goals.
Our Treatment Philosophy
At RIPNS, we believe that depression, anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, and other health issues are not diseases in and of themselves, but rather symptoms of inflammation, that they are messages your body is sending you warning you that something is out of balance. We work with patients who believe that they can feel better than they do right now, and who are tired of being prescribed more or different medications that never make them feel better for very long and cause varying side effects. The approach of our practice is to treat patients as individuals to better understand the underlying and root causes of their mood symptoms and health concerns rather than relying on medications alone.
How Will RIPNS Help Me?
At RIPNS we do not consider ourselves to be “fixers” of problems, but rather facilitators of change. We are here to inspire you to take the next step on your journey to health, and to help you put the pieces of your puzzle together– by guiding, coaching, and educating you every step of the way.
How do we do this?
We listen to your story–all of it, from beginning to end- Even the parts you don’t think are important–because in your story are the clues to why you aren’t feeling as well as you should
We are honest with you about what you need to do to improve your mental and physical health, and spell out the work you have to put in so that you feel your best
We build a relationship with you that is supportive, caring, and collaborative
We facilitate your journey, help you to understand what are the next steps, and give you the tools you need to achieve your goals
At RIPNS, we know there’s a better way—a way to more complete health. A natural, functional way that doesn’t depend on medication alone. Don’t waste any more time feeling anything less than yourself—Set up an appointment today!
Two years ago, Providence led me to Ashley Mannell, when my PCP no longer wanted to prescribe treatment for my Season Affective Disorder. Rather than go to a psychiatrist for anti-depressants, I chose Ashley because of her great interest, education, and experience in the relationship of “food and mood”. In recent months, Ashley made a breakthrough in having me tested for the MTHFR gene mutation. The resulting treatment she prescribed has resulted in a virtual cure of my S.A.D. (which I’ve had for 60+ years). I cannot speak highly enough about Ashley Mannell … she is so easy to work with and, instead of being satisfied with current treatments, is continually informing herself about new health discoveries in the world that may help her patients. Ashley Mannell has so positively impacted my health and well-being that I enthusiastically recommend her to everyone.
